The Revolutionary AES Technology
Hydrogen does not occur in its pure form in nature: more than ninety percent of hydrogen produced today is derived from fossil fuels, contradicting its clean fuel message. In the near future, hydrogen will need to be produced by electrolysis, as the world progressively shifts from oil to renewable power sources such as solar and wind.
Hydrogen production from electrolysis, today is expensive or energy inefficient. Acta’s revolutionary AES electrolyser stack technology solves both problems: the use of an Alkaline Solid Polymeric Membrane eliminates the need to use expensive and rare noble metals on the electrodes and enables the safe production of directly compressed hydrogen without recourse to post compressors or sophisticated pressure balancing systems which add to the cost. The system is intrinsically simple, also saving the power required for the ancillary devices and for the compressor.
The AES stack can be directly connected to an Off-Grid intermittent power source, such as solar panels or a wind generator, to produce a truly Clean Hydrogen Fuel.
At the heart of AES technology is a signifi cant intellectual property portfolio centered on Acta’s Alkaline Membrane Electrode Assembly technology, developed through six years of research, drawing on scientists of world renown.
Acta sells the AES stack to electrolyser producers and system integrators wishing to incorporate a simple, safe and economic source of compressed, clean hydrogen into their products. Acta is an Italian company, which listed on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange in 2005. |
